A NEW HEART
I'm just an old man
Been around quite awhile
But I'm not complaining
God gave me a smile
Jesus removed my heart of stone
And gave me a brand new heart
He then took the old one
I'd had from the start
And He cast it away
So now I can say
I'm still an old man
But have a new heart today
I MUST CONTINUE
The time has not yet come for me to quit, retreat, or run
I'll continue with my writing still
Because I feel it's the LORD's own will
There is still so much that needs to be done
So I'll do my best for God's own Son
It's not in my name I write to you
But in my Savior's who is faithful and true
We're never blessed when we lift up self
We must be willing to be placed on a shelf
But I'm really blessed when I lift up Jesus
For He is the one who will never leave us
Though some will not believe the words I say
I'll continue to write in faith and pray
Maybe someday they'll understand
And enter into the Promised Land
Where Jesus Christ is the Mighty King
Who rules and reigns over everything
TURN TO JESUS
Thank you LORD for another day
It's time to rise, kneel, and pray
I'll seek Your will right away
It's not time to eat or play
So on my knees I plan to stay
'Till I know Your direction to start this day
Many will rise and go their way
Caring less what You have to say
They'll seek their pleasures and do their things
Some unaware of the problems these bring
Some even say, "I've got to be me
It's my own life, yes I'm so free"
But little they know, when they serve themself
Abiding joy will be placed on a shelf
It's so much better to serve God than run
In the opposite direction just seeking for fun
Contentment and peace they'll never find
Seeking in self with a carnal mind
When they find themself they'll only be sad
A heart unconverted is not one that's glad
But if they search for the LORD and Savior
He will help them to change their behavior
Some cry, "It's an insult" when they're told what they need
Even get really mad and in their anger they seethe
Instead of repenting and calling on God
Their own path they choose to trod
They should have been thankful for the warnings they got
Instead of considering them some evil plot
But God will forgive them and do it in love
If they turn to Jesus, the Savior above

THE LORD'S CREATION
Never had I ever seen
So much shifting sand
And I have traveled much
Across this blessed land
I have seen so many sights
And I've been thrilled so much
To see the mighty mountains
The rivers, lakes, and such
Every time I see its beauty
I can't help but say
Thank you precious LORD
For your creation again today!
For a poem today, dear LORD I pray
To glorify You in every way
I love You so, and want the world to know
How great You are, superior by far
Than human beings, and all living things
To You I give praise, and my hands I do raise
To worship You, all my life through
For eternity and now, I'll humbly bow
To honor You, my LORD so true!
MY LORD
I'M THANKFUL!
I'm thankful for the air I breathe, the water that I drink
I'm thankful for soundness of mind, and the ability to think
I'm thankful for the pleasant sights I've been able to view
I'm thankful for my many friends - far more than just a few
I'm thankful that I have food to eat - enough to satisfy
I'm thankful that I know the "TRUTH", and have not believed a "lie"
I'm thankful for a place to live, and a car that I can drive
Actually, it's only by God's grace that I am alive!
I'm thankful for my family whom I love very much
And with my church family, I like to keep in touch
I'm thankful for my pastor, and his precious family too
Who have all been a blessing - in various ways, it's true
I'm thankful for many, many other things
But most of all - for Jesus, and the "salvation" that He brings!
TO A PROFESSING ATHEIST
So you say, there is no God
Then who created the ground on which you trod
Who made the birds that fly in the sky
You surely cannot say, they are a lie
They live and breathe and move around
Because in them real life is found
Nothing dead can create life
Other theories produce just strife
You say that creation came from gases
Now that truly my mind surpasses
To reach that conclusion I'd have to strive
I've never seen any gases that are alive
And by the way, where did the gases come from
Yes, from an atheistic mind, that is the sum
And to say they just happened by chance
Is like moving a mountain with only a glance
For every effect there is a cause
At least that's what I've heard about scientific laws
Concerning this point, if I'm incorrect
You're certainly welcome to put me in check
But if I'm right in what I say
You should believe in the Creator today!
You see, the burden of proof is not on me
To prove God exists whom you cannot see
Just as you live and should know what's right
You should worship the Creator God both day and night!
A COKE AND A SNICKER BAR
I'm not feelin' so well - havin' quite a spell
But I think I'll live - as far as I can tell
But it's no joke - please get me a Coke!
And since you're goin' that far - bring me back a Snicker bar!
(This poem was written to try to amuse an ailing friend who especially likes Coca Cola and Snicker candy bars!)
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." (Proverbs 17:22, KJV, Bible)
WITHOUT CHRIST IT'S NOT CHRISTMAS
I remember when I was a young lad
At Christmas time I'd be so glad
With presents to open and to be with Mom and Dad
And I knew the meaning of Christmas
It was not just for eating and games
But to recognize the birth of the Savior
And give honor to His name!
Because without Christ it is not Christmas
Just another day of the year
But it's a time to celebrate Jesus
'Cause it's through Him that we receive cheer
Some who reject Jesus think they're having a ball
Don't they know that without Christ
It's not Christmas at all!
I'LL BE ALRIGHT!
Don't worry about me friends, I'll be alright!
Though trials come, they'll take their flight
My life on earth may soon be past
But the LORD will sustain me until the last
No matter what comes my way, you see
God will be there to lead and guide me
Although I may trip or stumble at times
Jesus will lift me to new heights sublime
So, I'll keep looking up from whence comes my help
Yes, to the LORD of glory; my answers are not in self
In God's precious Word, I'll continue to delight
So, don't worry about me -- I'll be alright!
Mrs. Smith went to a churchhouse
Mr. Jones went to a bar
Mrs. Smith sang and played the piano
Mr. Jones sang and played his guitar
One night their cars collided on a highway
Mr. Jones' driving caused all the harm
From a hospital room Mrs. Smith went to Heaven
But Mr. Jones suffered broken arms
So Mrs. Smith was rejoicing with Jesus
While Mr. Jones was sad and alone
Then one day at a local grocery
Mrs. Smith's son met Mr. Jones
He said, Mister, please come to our revival
I think you'll be blessed by what you hear
Mr. Jones said, thanks for your invitation
But my heart is weak and my death is near
Mrs. Smith's son then pleaded, oh come and meet Jesus
'Cause He can save and He can heal
Mr. Jones said, alright, I'll be there tonight
To see if what you say is real
Mrs. Smith's son replied, we'll be glad to see you
Then he turned and left the store
And that night Mr. Jones was converted
Now he'll be blessed for evermore
Later that week Mr. Jones' life ended
When his heart would beat no more
Now he and Mrs. Smith are singing a duet
Over on Heaven's glorious shore
Now listen carefully to these words my friends
Even though you may think this poem is not true
Although the names here may be different
Mrs. Smith or Mr. Jones could be you
Yes, Mrs. Smith or Mr. Jones could be you
Is Mrs. Smith or Mr. Jones actually you?
